Round-table discussion with Alessandro Baricco and Isaac Pante

A round-table debate, organized by the Charles Veillon Foundation, will be held on October 5th in Lausanne in advance of a ceremony to award the European Essay Prize to Italian writer Alessandro Baricco.

Baricco will come to Lausanne on October 5th to receive the prestigious European Essay Prize. The accompanying round-table event event will be held prior to the award ceremony, from 12:15-13:45 at the Lausanne Palace.

Taking part in the discussion will be dhCenter member Isaac Pante, a lecturer and researcher in culture and digital publishing at UNIL, and a founding member of the UNIL Gamelab. Philosopher and writer Emanuele Coccia and University of Geneva professor Isabelle Collete will also be on the panel, which will be led by UNIL professor and European Essay Prize Prize jury member Francesco Panese.

The discussion will be open to the public, with a limited number of spaces available, as well as streamed live via Youtube. Those interested in attending the round-table must pre-register here.

About the prize

According to its website, the European Essay Prize “draws attention to authors whose work bear witness to and offer a fertile critique of current societies, their practices and ideologies”. Baricco was selected to receive the 42nd edition of the prize for his book The Game (Gallimard, 2019).
