Harvard webinar to address the darker side of Zoom

The Shorenstein Center at Harvard University’s Kennedy School will offer a webinar on the phenomenon of virtual meeting hijacking, or “zoom bombing”, on April 3rd.

The organizers of this webinar aim to address the consequences of zoom bombing, which has emerged as an unexpected challenge to working and teaching remotely as part of social distancing practices. “While we are not cyber security experts, we see zoom bombing as a sociotechnical vulnerability, which occurs when the default settings of the technology are leveraged by intruders to disrupt communication, sometimes just for fun, but also for more targeted reasons,” they say.

Attendees will learn about how zoom bombing occurs, and receive some tips for managing it based on the expertise of the Shorenstein Center’s  Technology and Social Change Research Team.
