EPFL DH Research Seminar: Reading with machines. Reading and writing in the digital age

EPFL’s Digital Humanities Institute will hold an online DH Research Seminar Lecture online on October 7th, entitled “Reading with machines. Reading and writing in the digital age”. The seminar will be given by University of Basel professor of digital humanities Gerhard Lauer.

Professor Lauer‘s research shows that, in contrast to claims that books and reading are coming to an end, many young readers vividly write and read books today, mainly on social media. He will talk about his research on the digital lives of books and today’s readers, using real-time data to try to find ways to measure reading activity in large data sets.

The DH Research Seminar is a series of talks organized by the Digital Humanities Institute. The seminars are given by researchers from a wide range of backgrounds, and present the vast array of subjects covered by the field of digital humanities.

Participants are invited to listen to the seminar, and to join in the Q&A session at the end of the presentation, via the following link: https://epfl.zoom.us/s/96467570235.
