Digit-Hum workshop: « Sciences de l’Antiquité et humanités numériques »

The half-day workshop Digit-Hum 2020 « Sciences de l’Antiquité et humanités numériques » (“Sciences of antiquity and digital humanities”) will be held on October 2nd at the École normal supérieure in Paris, with both in-person and videoconference attendance options.

During this workshop, participants will explore  how digital techniques permeate, promote, and renew the research processes of antiquity experts, including linguists, philologists, historians, philosophers, archaeologists, geophysicists, etc. The event will provide an opportunity to take stock of practices related to digital technologies, and to foster dialogue between various disciplinary traditions.

Aurélien Berra, a lecturer in ancient Greek language and literature, rhetoric, and digital humanities at the University of Paris-Nanterre, will give a lecture on: “Digital Classics: Utopias and Realities”. This talk will be followed by a presentation of the CIRIS project (Computerized Interactive Collection of Ancient Sources) by the scientific information team of the Centre Jean Pépin.
