Call for papers for conference on “Impact de la sérialité sur le récit audiovisuel”

The international conference, “Formes Narratives & Supports Médiatiques (I): Impact de la sérialité sur le récit audiovisuel” (“Narrative Forms & Media Supports (I): Impact of seriality on audiovisual narrative”), to be held in French at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) on October 20th-21st, 2021, is now seeking paper submissions.

This conference will explore how serial practices contribute to determining and shaping cinematographic and television narratives; particularly in terms of narrative tension, temporality, point of view, and construction of the characters. It will continue from October 21st-22nd with a second part, “Formes narratives & supports
médiatiques (II) : transferts, reconfigurations et évolution dans la bande dessinée” (“Narrative forms & media supports (II): transfers, reconfigurations and evolution in comics”).

Submitted paper proposals should identify theoretical issues that go beyond case studies, and that integrate the question of seriality in cinema (rather than exclusively in the more widely addressed context of television).

Proposals (summary of 3000 characters plus biographical note) must be sent before January 15, 2021 to Valentine.Robert@unil.ch and Alain.Boillat@unil.ch
